I’m Jana Swart, a South African football content creator, presenter and the person behind Mzansi Soccer Girl.
I’m not here because I grew up wanting to be a football analyst or because I know every statistic in the book. I’m here because I genuinely love football, the excitement, the chaos, the characters, the stadiums, the supporters and everything that happens around the 90 minutes. AND especially when it comes to South African Football.
Mzansi Soccer Girl is my way of bringing you along for the ride. Wherever I go, we go together.
What started as a love for football has grown into a platform where I get to experience the game in my own way and share those experiences with other South African fans.
Sometimes that means being at a match and showing you what it actually feels like to be there. Sometimes it means travelling to another country to watch a South African player. Sometimes it’s sitting down for a conversation, asking the questions fans want answered or simply sharing my very honest opinion after a big game. And sometimes, it’s just about having fun.
One of my favourite parts of football is seeing South Africans making their mark around the world. There’s something different about seeing someone from home walk onto a pitch on the other side of the world. That connection is a huge part of what I want to explore through Mzansi Soccer Girl: the players, their clubs, the cities they play in and the stories behind their journeys. That passion has also taken me beyond South Africa, from visiting football clubs and stadiums in Europe and attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup™️ to experiencing matchdays from the perspective of a fan. I’m fascinated by how differently people experience football around the world and I want to bring those experiences back home.
But you’ll find plenty of South African football here. Our clubs. Our players. Bafana Bafana. Banyana Banyana. The supporters. The debates. The celebrations. The frustrations. The characters. The moments that have us all talking.
Because football in South Africa has its own personality and I want to be part of celebrating it.
This website is an extension of everything I love about creating content. It’s a place for stories, football travel, interviews, opinions, matchday experiences, South Africans abroad and the random football moments that don’t always fit neatly into a news headline.
Most importantly, I want Mzansi Soccer Girl to feel like you’re coming along with me. And if there’s a football experience worth sharing, I want to be there.
I’m a fan first. Everything else came after that.
